Do you have replacements for all engine mount systems?

With over 1600 models spanning working loads from 10kg to 2000kg our mounting systems will cater to most applications over a wide variety of industries. Poly Flex can custom design and manufacture replacement engine mounts for almost any engine.

What are Poly Flex engine mounts made from?

All our mounting systems are made from a lightweight, heat-cured engineered polyurethane accompanied by steel components.

Is a Poly Flex engine mount system a failsafe mount?

Yes, most of our mounting systems are designed as failsafe mounts to avoid the engine tearing away from its anchor point, and they will hold the same weight inverted.

What are the other benefits of Poly Flex mounting systems?

Our mounting systems are lightweight and resistant to oil and fuel. They can handle shock upon impact due to a 400% stretch factor in the base material, and the isolation core is designed to control thrust in all directions.

Yes, most of our mounting systems are rebuildable. All parts, including the isolation core, can be replaced when needed without replacing the entire unit.

What measurements do I need to provide to be quoted on a suitable mounting system?

When finding the appropriate mounting system for a customer’s application, we first determine the suitable mount. This is achievable by determining bolt centre/PCD (E), minimum adjustment height (J), and stud size (F).

Are all engines four-point mounted?

Not in every situation. Power and configuration may require four, five, six, or eight-point mounting to achieve the required deflection while still reducing vibration and maintaining durability.

How important is engine mounting installation?

Proper installation of mounting systems is critical for designed life expectancy. It is critical that the top of the engine bed is parallel to the base of the engine bracket across all planes in order to avoid any point loading on the mount base, stud, and core material.

Flexible Couplings and Half Couplings

What is a flexible coupling?

A flexible coupling provides a damper between the gearbox and output flange, helping isolate torsional vibration and reduce shocks from forward and reverse gear changes.

What is a half coupling, and when should it be used?

Steel half couplings, coupling spacers, and custom cotton reel adaptors are all CNC machined and designed in our Brisbane facility. They are steel mating components used between the gearbox and output shaft, with or without a flexible coupling.

Do flexible couplings come with coupling bolts?

Most flexible couplings are provided with the hardware necessary to install, meaning no machining or bolting is needed between the existing flanges. They are also dispatched with installation guidelines outlining the process and recommended torque settings for the bolts.

Damper Plates

What is a damper plate?

A damper plate is a fundamental component that keeps machinery working efficiently by attaching to the flywheel with bolts and works by dampening vibrations from the drive train.

Will a damper plate reduce gear noise and vibration?

Poly Flex damper plates are designed to reduce gear noise and spline wear and isolate torsional vibrations at lower speeds. This is achieved by the damper’s various hardnesses between the two drive plates, varying from 80 to 1000 Nm—engines up to 700HP.

What are Poly Flex damper plates made from?

The flexible element is made from a type of polyurethane elastomer that has good heat qualities and isn’t affected by salt water, diesel, or lubrication oil. It is situated between two drive plates.

Will Poly Flex damper plates rust?

Drive plates and all other steel components are cobalt zinc coated to inhibit rust for extended life.

Are Poly Flex damper plates fail-safe?

Poly Flex damper drive plates are designed to be failsafe and maintain the drive if the flexible element fails.
